Deepti started Dough-re-mom with the idea to build on her son’s sensory skills. When she tried it at home, he loved it! That’s when she decided play dough has to become “every child’s play partner” and Dough-re-mom came into existence.

Deepti Bhandari is a happy-go-lucky person. Graduated with an MSc in biochemistry. She’s a very family-bound person and an amazing mother to a lovable son.
“There was never a necessity to go to work,” she said, but the yearning to learn always pushed her to try something. She would go with her father-in-law to his office and learn a lot from there.
She wanted to start something on her own. She tried her hands on several jobs which made a pathway to her dream, the Dough-re-mom.
She believes that learning comes from experience. True as it is, the motherhood experience to keep her child engaged has fulfilled a larger-than-life goal.
Dough-re-mom as a Product & Brand
Dough-re-mom started in May 2019 and is a beautiful four years old. Dough-re-mom is a team of five people and they ship their products across India.
Dough-re-mom is the first of its kind lab tested & certified, taste-safe, handcrafted dough by a mother. It is scented and so soft for those little minds to squish, squash, and explore.
Dough-re-mom dough has a longer shelf life. It revives faster as compared to the store-bought ones. Their products come in varied colors, sizes, shapes, and themed kits. They also have products made of plant extracts which make it very safe for children. Small wooden toys are also added to a few kits to help support the child’s dough play.
Her main focus is on sensory development in children by learning and experiencing. Dough-re-mom packages the dough in wooden boxes to keep it environmentally friendly. She believes in being one less burden on nature!
All About Deepti’s Journey and Success
Deepti is a learner from her experiences. Her journey with Dough-re-mom in her own words “ has been the most rewarding journey by far” she says. She believes that building this step by step on her own feels like an achievement. She recalls getting something as simple as a GST number as the most heartwarming moment.
Adding a feather to her cap, IIM Bangalore invited her to their incubation center. She will be joining them very soon.
What Was The Driving Factor For Deepti?
The men in Deepti’s life have always motivated her to realize her goals. Her father, father-in-law, and her brother were the inspiration that drove her to start something on her own. Even so, a doting husband is always on the side without whose support this would have been still a dream. This goes to show that a family of support pushes you to the sky.

Starting something from scratch can be very overwhelming and this was the case for Deepti too. She has faced a lot of challenges throughout her journey.
Finding the right place, figuring out the packaging process, hiring people and accounting were the most difficult parts. When you have a child as your consumer, you need to be most careful about the norms, and tackling legal issues is quite daunting. Yet, challenges didn’t stop Deepti from moving ahead.

We, as mothers, believe that play dough is not a choice for a child below eighteen months. Being mothers, we worry about giving them dough to play with, let alone leaving them with it!
